If I were to work at an oil & gas company like Exxon for 5 years after graduation, would I have a hard time finding work in the automotive or aerospace industry?
Also, does anyone have experience working at Exxon as an ME? I've heard mixed comments about the company. I've got a friend co-oping downstream as a process engineer who says that full-time employees in her deparment only worked 40 hour weeks. I found it hard to believe since I was under the impression that they only pay their engineers such high salaries because they expect them to work 60+ hour weeks, but I guess it varies by department.
