What are my chances of getting an engineering job with a 2.5 GPA from a top tier school?

Long story short, my gpa is not my strong point. I've struggled a lot with test taking and time management, but I have a year left in undergrad and I want to bring up my gpa from a current 2.3 to at least a 2.5 when I (plan to) graduate next spring. But let it be noted that I go to Georgia Tech, which is a top tier engineering school, top 3 in Mechanical.

On the flip side, I had an internship last summer in project management, and the boss there has a really strong recommendation for me (Not sure I want to work there after graduating though). I also had a semester of undergrad research experience in a mechanical engineering lab, again with a strong recommendation. I've founded and served as president of a non-academic club on campus and I've served as an officer in my fraternity. My team came in second place out of 60-ish in our sophomore year mechanical design course competition. I also consider myself to have really strong interview skills and a lot of talking points. This helped me to get into both the internship and the research position with a low gpa and little experience.

At the end of the day though, I am hearing that so many companies just put a gpa filter on their applicant pool, and with something like a 2.4 or 2.5, I'm going to be quickly eliminated despite the other ways in which I make up for low grades. Any advice, experience, or thoughts on this? I am not expecting a whole lot right out of graduation, location doesn't matter to me and I would take below average pay if that's how I get my foot in the door, I just want to get something in mechanical engineering.
