Can I take the MechE PE exam if I took the ChemE FE Exam?

I passed the chemical engineering FE exam earlier this year, but am now looking to pursue a mechanical engineering PE license. Would I need to take the mechanical engineering FE exam to begin this process, or would my current EIT certification suffice? I'm located in California if matters.
