Career Advise for recent graduate

Hello,

I graduated from Texas A&M last spring with a GPA above 3.0 and am currently looking for full-time opportunities and I have several concerns and questions:

Please note that my questions are directed specifically to jobs in the USA.

  1. I am currently interested in going into a Design based job for an oil and gas service company. Is this a stable career path? If I have to leave that job for any reason, how hard will it be to transition into another design position (not necessarily Oil and Gas)?
  2. What is the smartest most stable career path for a recent mechanical engineer for the future?
  3. I have passed the FE Mechanical Test and currently, am in the process of becoming an EIT. How valuable is that whilst applying for jobs?
  4. Any tips on how to land the first job would be greatly appreciated!!
