Hey guys, not sure if this is the place to post this but I recently got a new fish tank and filled it with beach crabs, but after research I learned they live based on the tide. When the tide goes down they run out to scavenge what the ocean left, and when the tide goes up they hide in their burrow. I want to create a simulation for tide by using a pvc pipe as a syringe, and was thinking to program a motor with a piston like arm to raise and lower the syringe, which would raise and lower the water height and simulate tide. However, does anyone know how I can program/build something similar to this but without spending a bunch of money on it? I figured it would be a fun project. And please dont say provide them a better life, they are spoiled actually. They're in a huge tank, filled with beach sand, I gave them mussels to eat last night and they had salmon today haha.
TLDR: I need help programming a piston arm with engine, cost affordable.
