Does flatness tolerance (of 0.01mm for example) means that the maximum deflection you MUST be lower than is 0.01mm?! Because I'm designing an assembly that has a linear rail that's bolted to a plate, my boss told me to make the deflection that the maximum that deflection that I must be close or lower than the flatness tolerance of the linear rail, l disagreed and told him that both words have two completely different meanings and it might be an overkill for the deflection to be lower than the flatness tolerance
Which opinion is correct?
