I know where I want to be career wise, but unsure how to get there. Any Ideas?

I have known that I wanted to be a designer and make people happy ever since I was six years old. At six, I designed my own Disney park. It was coloring book pages, and crazy schemes, but I knew it was something that would make people happy. I've always had the mindset that the world is dark enough as is, and I want to do everything I can to try to make it a little better. I'm not going to be the one to cure cancer or save the day, but I can design something that makes people feel happy, and lets them experience different emotions than they might be feeling.

Disney is the crazy pipe dream (if you see this Disney HR, Hi. Nice to meet ya!) But, realistically, I can work with companies that do trades shows, theaters, floats, and similar things that combine engineering with that guest interaction of technical theatre.

Here is where my questions come in: I currently work in manufacturing. I'm learning so much that I'm so thankful for, but I'm not working towards that goal that I have. And, I don't know how to get there. I don't even know what positions I should be looking for honestly outside of googling “<CITY> event fabrication” and then hoping for the best. So, below I have some information about me, and what I'm doing currently, as well as a few potential paths that I've been considering. I will accept any and all ideas if you have any! Thank you everyone in advance!

ME background: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Minor in CAD Design, Graduated 2017. 3.26 GPA, EIT, Currently working as design engineer for a manufacturing company that works on smaller vehicles (Think lawnmowers)

Theatre background: Been doing tech for 13 years, Worked as a prop and puppet designer for a local theatre company in my first year out of school (job moved me, so had to leave that group), Started working at a Haunted House about 2 months ago helping with building sets, costumes, lights, sound, and fog machines.

Potential ideas: Go back to school for a technical theatre degree and work part time, keep working and trying to find side jobs within the industry, quit and look full time for what I really want to do. I have been taking online classes that involve theatre design, and Khan Academy's Imagineering In a Box Course is this week's project. But, I feel like I could be doing more to work towards my goal, and I am curious about what other people have done.

NOTE: I am in a larger city that is growing in entertainment but I don't know how to get the background that I would need to be successful.
