working for small vs big companies?

Hi there,

Recently I had a talk with someone I know, he’s already working for around 20 years as an engineer and I’m still studying. We we’re talking about the differences between working for a small or big company.

One of the things we agreed on was that hard work really pays of in a small company rather than a big company. The other thing, which I don’t really have an opinion about, is that he claimed that big companies really kill creativity and ambition. Mostly because if your boss says you’re work is fine you don’t get the chance to further do anything because you did what they ask and that’s it.

Any opinions or personal experiences about these and other differences between working for a small or big company?

Haven’t really grounden an opinion yet so I’m curious about other input.
