Composite and Epoxy Use in Skateboards

What are the real benefits of reinforcing something like a skateboard with a few layers of fiberglass or carbon fiber? I’m sure it makes a difference, but is it enough to pay a higher price... Why not just make the whole board out of it?

Typically the fibers are sandwiched between either all the plies, or the first and last one.

Some examples:

It seems each company has their own “secret sauce”, but I imagine the same principles apply to all of them.

The last thing is the use of epoxy. It’s stronger than using PVA or polyurethane glue, so that’s nice. And I’m sure there are different brands of glue being used for different reasons, but my one concern over work-time for epoxy is the allergen issue. Is it sustainable to use it for adhering boards?
