So, CATIA v6 is a steaming pile of horseshit, and I’m honestly astounded anyone pays a penny for it. I’m hard-pressed to think of a worse piece of CAD software.
The latest issue, and since its essentially Christmas Eve my corporate helpdesk is taking their sweet time getting back to me, is that I have 3 crush ribs in a design, and I’m trying to make a drawing. One of the most important dimensions in this case is the tri-tangent diameter; alas, I can’t figure out which backdoor method I’m supposed to use as a workaround.
I’ve sketched a circle, and there are in theory 3 tools I can use to enforce a tangency condition to an edge.
-
Geometrical Constraint - this one doesn’t stick. I can make the circle tangent to one edge, but it immediately jumps when I make it tangent to the next edge.
-
Constraint - this doesn’t let me select the edge.
-
Contact Constraint - this also doesn’t let me select the edge.
So, since Dassault Systèmes is completely incompetent, what does the Reddit community suggest?
Follow-on: I need to get the leader back for a datum callout. Apparently a change I made lost some edge IDs, and while dimensions can be re-routed I’m not finding a way to do the same to datums.
