Hi /r/MechanicalEngineering, long time lurker first-time poster.
I was given the task to find the cause of failure on a part that has internal NPT threads. I'm not that familiar with them, and I was hoping someone who had more experience can chime in.
I came across this page: https://www.engineersedge.com/hardware/pipe_thread_installation_13424.htm
But it doesn't state the standard (if any?) the values are pulled from? So I have two questions:
1) Is there a standard for torque value/tightening procedure for NPT threads?
2) Is there a min/max amount of Teflon tape to wrap around male npt threads?
Thanks in advance!
