Building a Hydrostatic Test Rig

As our final year project, we are trying to build a pressure test rig to test different types of pressure vessels. For example PVC pipes, water bottles, composite vessels etc. Max pressure developed should be around 600 Bar or higher( tensile strength of a PVC pipe). As the test rig is a commercial product, the designs and workings are considered commercial secret. We have found no scholarly publications that describe the working procedure.

The machine and process look something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AE4UuZYSx8&feature=youtu.be

  1. Where can we find detailed specifications and guidance on building the test rig?
  2. What type of pump should be used?
  3. Is it possible to attain the required pressure manually by using a displacement type pump? e.g. by
    using a Tubewell pump.
  4. What software is more appropriate for analysing and simulating the performance of pressure
    vessels.
  5. Any thoughts on the fittings and plumbing? Can we implement a jaw system to make the testing
    rig a Universal type so that it can test pipes of any diameter?
    Thank you for your time and kindness.
