Four Linear Bearings, Two Rail Design Requirements

Four Linear Bearings, Two Rail Design Requirements

I am currently working on designing a linear motion system with four linear bearings and two rails. This describes the 2:1 rule used for such a design. Unfortunately, this only describes the distance between the fixed bearings and load - there are still a ton of questions I have on the matter.

Where would be the ideal location to put the driving force? Right between the two rails? Closer to the fixed bearing side?

Also, what happens when the load is parallel to the rails, not perpendicular (see below)? This would still apply a moment in the same direction, but how does the 2:1 rule change?

What about a case when the load is as shown below (motion in/out of page)?

As you can probably tell, I'm really new to linear motion design. Is there any reference material that would help with all these questions (or if anyone knows the answers!)? I couldn't find too much material for it. Thanks!
