Centrifugal Fan Scroll Design

Centrifugal Fan Scroll Design

Hi!

I have an old shaded pole induction motor lying around, and I want to design (and 3d print) a centrifugal fan for it.

I can figure out roughly how large the impeller should be (by trial and error), but I am at a loss for designing the scroll (housing).

I notice that typically the impeller is offset from the centre of housing, with the gap between the impeller and the housing expanding closer to the outlet.

Are there some mathematical relations/formula that I can use to design the housing?

Is the housing a perfect circle?

Is there a formula for calculating the gap as a function of θ?

Is there any relation for outlet cross sectional area vs impeller diameter?

Any information would be appreciated!
