Leave current job for Internship or wait until Graduation?

Hello all:

I'm 3 semesters away from graduation. My current part time job pays for my bills and school. I make about $17 an hour with Tuition Assistance, Paid Time Off, etc. However this job has nothing to do with Engineering.

Should I leave this job to get Internship in Engineering? Will any of these companies even pay close to that?

My GPA is not great. So most high paying Internships I see require 3.0 or 3.5 GPA

My other option is wait until graduation and get a job maybe as a lower level technician or some manufacturing job.

Problem is I have rent, car payment, utilities, etc. but I still want to take 12 credits every semester. My current job gives me this ability but I am not gaining experience in Engineering, which is what I'm studying.

What is the best route? I'm applying for jobs now but worried about requesting around $20/hr. when I have a low GPA and no prior work experience in this field, but it is necessary since I already have bills and have other higher paying options.
