Hi all, I am having some trouble on confidently estimating the force in a pressurized tank leak and am wondering whether the rocket thrust equation, F = mdotv + pA, is applicable? The Tank contents is a stable gas and the leak occurs from a crack formation.
My thoughts are that the orifice would have some rough edges but not enough to characterize a nozzle; hence the mdotv does not apply and force from the leak would be F_Leak = pA. Thanks!
