What's the power of motor I need to vertically rotate (in a circle) a nylon string of 1 m long that has 50 g of load on the end? (taking into account for start-up acceleration)
Hi all, i'm trying to build something that can do light trail photography for me so i don't need an assistant and also avoid people getting into the photo.
The target is to make a nylon string rotate in a circular motion with some LED lights on the rope end (or sparkled steel wool). However i tried a couple motors (small hobby motor and a 12V CPU fan motor) and they did not have enough power (only worked up to probably 10 cm or 15 cm). The nylon string quickly tangled onto the motor and can't keep its motion (I did try to reach steady state by starting up by hand but as i try to turn on the power source midway it did not work, maybe because i was using a brushless motor). Since more powerful motor would be more expensive and i would also need to buy the proper power source (so that i don't need to replenish battery as they get drained), I would like to know how much power i need in the motor.
Even better, is there any built system that can do this for me? Not looking for a ceiling fan motor that would take 110V input since I still wanna keep it portable.
