Does ABET accreditation matter in Engineering ?

I study Mechanical Engineering here in the Philippines my school does not hold a ABET accreditation in the Mechanical Engineering program. How important the ABET accreditation, if it's really that important I will transfer schools to where there is a ABET accredited program here in Manila. Please help me out.
