How’s the job market for undergrads

Incoming ME sophomore at a well ranked state school, 2 internships experience in systems engineering.

Every company I’d like to work for long term has a ton of job opportunities for software, very few for hardware. I’m wondering if ME is becoming a thing of the past?

What can I expect to make out of college?

Really, any long term career/life advice would be amazing. Thanks
