I am probably overthinking this, but recently I have been looking at job applications associated to the role of a Design Engineer and I've noticed that some of them have had the requirement of "know how to use/familiar to FEA programs." When I read this I understood it as the following: just knowing how to use a program such as ANSYS, COMSOL, ABAQUS, etc. Would this be right, or does it mean something else like knowing how to write your own code, etc.?
