I have an apparatus where there are two metal plates each 1/2" thick attached to one end with a hinge that allows the top plate to rotate from a point on the bottom plate. I am trying to figure out a way to control the angle between the plates precisely, perhaps with a bolt that will allow smooth angle adjustments that will hold. The top plate has a very heavy load (2000 lb) so the adjustment system needs to be very sturdy and perhaps heavy duty. I have attached a hand drawn image to explain the question better. Please ask if I missing key details in the question. I don't have any metal lathe or any heavy equipment machinery. I am looking for some solution that will allow me to build the angle adjustment system with off the shelves parts (like bolts, metal plates, pillow block bearing or something standard like that). Thanks in advance for your help! greenion. [link] [comments] |
