How to NOT overthink Engineering Problems

Hey everyone, I'm currently a Sophomore in Mechanical Engineering and am taking Statics&Dynamics. I'm an overthinker, and I always end up thinking way too hard about the wrong stuff on problems. If someone shows me the solutions, I can easily follow it and I tend to understand it, but I have a hard time breaking it all down as I go along. Anyone have tips for this? Thank you all in advance.
