Currently I'm following a course at my university called Model based system engineering. In this course we learn a language called CIF 3 in which we code a system with several sensors en actuators, just like you would have in automated process systems. In the end there's a file that converts the controller to a PLC code that can be run on the plant. I'm wondering however how common this is. When I google for it I only find information about of my university. Also other peopme only seem to talk about PLC programming and Twincat etc.
