Career crisis-Need advice

Hi Sub,

I write to you today with peak frustration, so much to the point that it's running my sleep and appetite. I am working my first job since early 2018 in a big Japanese OEM as a design engineer. Right now, I'm at a point where I'm not really learning anything new and I haven't added any skills since 6 months. Work is boring, repetitive and I find it hard to wake up and go to work.

To resolve this, I started applying about 3 months ago and was lucky to get a few interviews, many at really good companies that do cutting edge R&D work, mostly around Bay Area and NY.

Problem is I haven't been able to convert a single interview opportunity into a job offer. It gets bad when the interview gets really technical and they go into these hypothetical design questions that I struggle to answer. How do I even get through interviews like this if I simply don't have experience to answer such questions? Surely it can't be an IQ test.

Any advice would be appreciated.
