In all honesty, how screwed as a new graduate without internships?

It seems like you can't take a step anywhere without the message that internships are the holy grail fundamental experience as an undergraduate.

I kind of feel like my colleagues who have internships are starting at 70k with multiple offers, while I'd be thrilled to get a minimum wage job here in Orange County upon graduation that offered engineering experience. I guess I'm not unpicky to the point i'd taken an unpaid internship, but besides that....

There's a lot more to say for GPA not mattering than internships not mattering. The imposter syndrome seems kind of inescapable at this point. It seems like any job you apply to that has another applicant with an internship means you have an essentially nonexistent chance. I guess if this is the reality than oh well. I guess if I fucked up as an undergraduate then.....
