What is the mechanical property associated with the fall of an object to the ground?

So, lets say that I have a graphite box and I let it fall on the ground by simply loosing my hands of the box, so it falls on the ground and crashes.

What is the property associated? what gives resistance of impact to the ground? is it flexural strenght?
