I am Muhammad Waseem, a senior student in Mechanical Engineering at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, minoring in Engineering Management, area of specialization Design. I have applied to at least 47 entry-level or other engineering positions and I keep on getting rejected. For me rejection isn't problem, it is the fact that I don't even reach the interview stage. honestly all that happens is that I apply and I either never hear a response or maybe two weeks out I get an email saying sorry. I am graduating this semester and it wasn’t stressing me out before, but now it is kind of creeping up on me.
I have done two summer internships at two food processing plants. One owned my Perdue Farms and the other, owned by Tyson Foods. The time I spent at these two plants was honestly fun and it helped me figure out the type of engineer I want to be. I like being busy, having work. I don't like doing medial task such as cleaning and moving stuff around. I want task that force me to learn.
I just would like advice. I don’t know what I am doing wrong or what I am not doing. I mosty applied in areas in and around Virginia, DC, and New York.
Also i have gone to career fairs.
