adult mechanical engineering kit?

hi, i know that this question isn't really similar to the other posts on this sub, but i'm hoping someone here can help me out.

my dad's birthday is coming up and i want to get him a kit so he can build something that moves/does something. i was thinking a robot or something, but all of them seem to be arduino based and require software & programming. my dad loves tinkering with machines, but is seriously computer illiterate and i think that asking him to download a computer program and code using it will be too much, like he will just not be successful with that.

do you know of any sort of mechanical engineering kits that i could look into that wont require any computer programming? just something that has in-the-box instructions, can be assembled and creates a product that has some movement/functionality? sort of like an RC car or something like that?
