I'm redesigning a product for a client and I'm trying to shoehorn a better screw-in door into their design where space is limited.
In the first photo, I'd like to move the wall with the red-arrow forward, but can't thin down the green-arrow-wall too much (this is plastic). Can I move the groove to the position shown in the second picture?
What will the trade-offs be? Will it change my sealing characteristics, etc? What is someone leaves the door unscrewed by half a turn, adding .025" to the gland (.070" o-ring cross section shown) - Can I still achieve get an IP67 seal? (assume the door doesn't unscrew more)
